Losing track of time – not easy to do these days, but when I let the day just be it’s incredibly peaceful
Doodling – with colored pencils, travel-sized tubes of paint, a pen.. Lately it’s been flowers inspired by Cy Twombly. The first time I saw these in person was a special moment in my life. 8p on a Thursday at the Pompidou. I was 21
Laughing hysterically – I love laughing hysterically with my dad. Sometimes we end up laughing so hard just because we are laughing so hard. I always tear up when I laugh. A quick confidence boost for anyone who is trying to make a joke around me.
Goooood magazines – I’ve been savoring the latest issues of Family Style, Neptune Papers and Apartamento.. An article every day or so. I also loved reading the newspaper-esque takeaway from Evan Kinori’s pop up in NY.. the story about Sally Fox was inspiring (this Vogue article shares more about her)
Cobble Hill Park – a true neighborhood gem
Talking to strangers – I love a good old-fashioned conversation with someone I don’t know when I’m out and about.. The mom sitting next to me at Montague Diner (her teenage daughter doesn’t want to get breakfast with her on Saturdays anymore), the neighbor who is a writer with a pet pig, the girls sitting next to me at the hotel breakfast, the family I apartment swapped with in Paris. Some are far from strangers to me now.
Yoga – I look forward to starting & ending my day with yoga… it brings me the ultimate pleasure
Collaborating with friends – work feels like play when I do it with friends. And I feel so lucky to be surrounded by thoughtful, creative humans..
Iced Soba Cha tea – my friend Devon made me a Soba Cha tea last winter when I was at her house and a few weeks later Brooke mentioned in her Affection Archives piece that the best Soba Cha tea is from Kettl, so I had to try it. I now always have a few bags on me. I’ll happily spot you one :)
Dim lights – not much to say here… just does wonders for calming my nervous system. Apparatus nailed it (to be expected)
