Pleasures
The time difference between New York and Europe *If you’re in Europe
I’m not a morning person, so working abroad is ideal for me. I wake up leisurely around nine o'clock and have all the way until three o’clock before anyone in New York starts knocking. That’s enough time to do a little writing, have a day, and then I’ll be at my computer responding to emails until around midnight, which is when I function best, anyway. I love having a head start; it makes me sleep much more soundly, and sleep is the ultimate luxury for me.
Planning ahead
I just got a new 2025 planner (as recommended by
), and I’m thrilled. I’m at my mom’s as I write this, and I get my calendar obsession from her. We’re both here consulting our dry-erase boards and to-do lists, plotting our entire year, making reservations... Organizing trips and birthdays is so fun for me. I already know what I’m doing, where I’m eating, and with whom for my 33rd in late April, my guests just don’t know it yet…When someone orders for me at a restaurant
I like to be in control everywhere except restaurants. I get overwhelmed by menus. When I look at them, the words start to blur. I need a “menu dom” who will tell me what to get and just send it—all the way down to the digestif. I think it’s sexy to know what you (and I) want.
