: “I'm a writer and the former editor-in-chief and co-founder of a design publication I don't even want to name because it was recently sold to an SEO factory and is now an embarrassment. I now author Schmatta, a weekly design newsletter that talks about spaces and decor in a way that is relatable (and actually entertaining, for once).”Social: @_leonoraepstein

Pleasures:
Trolling Etsy and eBay for vintage women's college paraphernalia. My favorite buys include a Smith College (my alma mater) dance card from 1913, a deck of Radcliffe playing cards, and a book created for Smith's reunion of the class of 1938 called Twenty-Five Years A-Graying: The Portrait of a College Graduate.
Taking walks in my Pasadena neighborhood, which is literally called Bungalow Heaven. It's an historic district filled with beautifully preserved Arts and Crafts and craftsman homes.
I feel obligated to say something about my child (age 3), because, yes, she is a pleasure (when she isn't a terror). Her name is Eleanor and her middle name is Darling — the pleasure is when she introduces herself as "Eleanor Darling."
Se Loger: The Zillow of France (I think?). We're hoping to move our family to Paris in the next 2-3 years. I love looking up apartment rentals in the 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, and 11th arrondissements.
In the summer, going for a swim in the ocean, followed by an outdoor shower and a cold alcoholic beverage during golden hour, preferably on Cape Cod. I haven't had this for a long time, but it's one of the best feelings in the world.
When traveling in the U.S./road tripping, buying lottery tickets in particularly run-down/sketchy gas stations and liquor marts.
These pants from LWN. I bought them from an IG ad (which I never do) about a month ago and I wear them almost every day. They're ideal for work-from-home types who struggle to dress themselves in anything other than workout clothes or pajamas.
