Pleasures
Cold cuts
Nothing pleases me more than a platter of prosciutto. So much so that growing up, my family used to call me ham hands.
Helmut Lang eau de Parfum
Every time I get a whiff of Helmut Lang eau de Parfum I’m overcome with pleasure followed by sadness that it’s now been discontinued, which is why I spray it sparingly.
My husband’s hands
One of the first things I noticed about Tom was his beautiful, strong hands. Sparsely decorated with tattoos, which I’ve now matched on mine, holding them or being held by them makes me feel calm and grounded and safe. Also I look at his wedding ring and I instantly feel home.
Lena Dunham’s The C Word (
)
I’ve recently and belatedly discovered Lena Dunham’s podcast The C Word, in which she and cult historian of bad behaviour Alissa Bennett look back at and reappraise women who have been called crazy throughout history such as Lizzie Siddal, the Han twins and Jean Seberg. It’s very good and very funny.
A Galliano slip
Bury me in John Galliano. Nothing beats the feeling of slipping into one his bias cut beauties, it gives me such pleasure and makes leaving the house - something I have actually come to hate as of late - that much more bearable.
Monica Hensley Really Good, Actually
I’ve just finished Monica Hensley’s Really Good, Actually and it was such a delight. Funny, moving, honest and raw, I never wanted it to end.
Falling asleep with my children
I’m not sure if this is good parenting but there’s nothing i love more than allowing my kids to sleep in my bed. The sound of them purring next to me is the most wondering feeling on earth.
What does Pleasure mean to you?

What Is “Pleasures, Curated”?
Each week, a new Pleasure-seeker will document their personal Pleasures and ruminate a bit on what Pleasure means to them. True to
style, I keep the list-maker’s je ne sais quoi in as much as I can — only minor editorial changes are made when necessary. I do this intentionally so that the writer’s inner world really comes through. The style of the list says as much about the writer as the list itself.Read Previous Q&A’s:

Why submit a list?
Pleasure Lists are a summary of what you need, want, or have, or see at a particular moment in time. They are a survey, an overview, a summary of the crucial facts of the state of one aspect of your life. It’s a kind of blueprint that can be a guide to the future.
Mull it over and if you’re moved to, send me a list.
