Bowling
A few years ago I started bowling more than a normal person does (like 2-3x a month), mostly as an excuse to have a few beers on a weeknight with a bud. However, it's starting to take over my life. Last week I took a bus over an hour to the Riker's Island stop to visit the nearby Dino's Pro Shop, the last remaining place in New York City where you can buy a ball and get it drilled. My highest score is 183 but my new years resolution is to break 200 and learn how to properly hook.
I do wish every bowling alley in 2024 didn't have loud music, chaotic birthday parties, and dimly lit neon drenched lanes. I know that's how most places make their money (and leagues) but I yearn for simple and charming spots in metro areas. If you live in Chicago, you're lucky to have Timber Lanes. I visited recently and it's basically the best place in the entire world— zero bullshit vibe, a charming and knowledgable staff, a feeling of community, and a true divey energy.
Waking up next to Jennie
Every morning is a gift. Never take it for granted.
Lovely song by lovely people. The lush instrumentation mixed with Shane's passionate yell-singing and Maya's delicate delivery compliment each other perfectly, it taps into something very spiritual. Few people understand the vibe better than Robbie Barnett, who translates it perfectly to video. Chanel Beads will 100% be one of those special artists that this era of the NYC will remembered for.
This hat I got from a brand called "I LOVE AMERICA"
Wearing the same few hoodies, every day
I feel like a "menswear writer" would say Russell Hoodies are cooked or something, but who cares, I'm clueless on trends. I just love how they're not overly thick and they usually come in nice earthy tones. I like cutting the collar a bit so my wide neck can breath. It also just looks cool.
The instagram account @crisis.acting
My favorite IG poster. Each carousel feels kind of Adam Curtis core- a wide ranging collection of visuals that help explain our current moment- but they're also just simply funny and strange to look through. They make me feel something that's hard to describe.
Biking to Rockaway (the long way) and Taking The Ferry Home (the short way)
At the time of writing this it's a mere 10 degrees, so yes, I'm missing warm days. Pictured here is my friend Ryan enjoying a large Twisted Tea after a 50 mile ride.
Rose Colored Lenses
I mean this is many senses, but also literally. I like sunglasses that make the world look the best it can. To me, this is orange or red lenses that makes every moment feel like a beautiful sunset. I just got a pair of Oliver People's Rosson shades and love them.
The American Analog Set
Criminally underrated band.
A North Shore Roast Beef
Iykyk. A slept on regional delicacy and one of the best parts of going home to Massachusetts. The best only come from Greek pizza shops on the North Shore and should be ordered "3-way" style with James River bbq sauce, mayo, and cheese.
Ken Burns Documentaries
Just finished 10 hours of Vietnam. National Parks is up next.

What Is “Pleasures, Curated”?
Each week, a new Pleasure-seeker will document their personal Pleasures and ruminate a bit on what Pleasure means to them. True to
style, I keep the list-maker’s je ne sais quoi in as much as I can — only minor editorial changes are made when necessary. I do this intentionally so that the writer’s inner world really comes through. The style of the list says as much about the writer as the list itself.Read Previous Q&A’s:
